Description

It’s always a challenge for large companies (like OEMs) to adapt to changing technologies. The ideal support of new technologies often requires a period of intense collaboration in the early stages, but it’s hard to know when to collaborate (or precisely how to do it). Too early, and the collaboration risks being maligned as a distraction or something that’s never going to happen. Too late, and individual groups or people within the broader organization may have already done so much work on their own that the value of collaboration is lost. EVs are one such technology. This session will cover the different strategies OEMs use to ensure EVs get the support they deserve, without distracting from the rest of the business. We will answer questions such as:

  • How does each OEM organize to support EVs? Does each “legacy” group (parts, service, etc.) have its own EV team? Or is there one central team?
  • How high within the organization does the EV group (or groups) have support?
  • What can individuals or small groups within the OEM do to collaborate and change the organization?
  • What is the future of EV support? Is it best done with a central group?
