Description

This topic gives OEMs the chance to compare and contrast their processes when batteries are taken out of a vehicle/equipment and/or sent back to the OEM. Repair processes allow our service experts to weigh in – what are OEMs willing to let dealers repair, and what guidance is provided? Core returns, reman, and recycling all involve getting the battery back to the OEM (safely) while the OEM takes steps to deal with the battery, ideally with reuse or additional revenue as an outcome.

  • Do you use different companies for storage vs. recycling?
  • How long does it take to stand up a relationship with a battery company/handler?
  • Is this decision driven by the parent company, battery supplier, distributor, or other?
  • What repairs are taking place on the batteries? Which are happening on site at the retailer vs. sending off site?

This session will not cover dealer-specific battery decision-making (is the battery safe or not?) in detail.
